Geek: using a laptop and a tablet PC's as a multi-monitor setup.
This inexpensive application creates a virtual monitor (appears like a normal monitor in the control panel) and acts as a software KVM, including file transfer.

I have been a fan of multi monitor setups forever. With 15 windows open at any given time, it's almost a requirement, but even with a single app like Flash, between the IDE, Script, debugger, panels, screen realestate is always at a premium. I also really love my laptop monitor, 1600x1200 no discernable pixels, thin, bright and most importantly mobile, so I can work anywhere. In contrast my secondary monitors have always been huge, so lugging them around hasn't been an option, and when I work at a cafe I find myself back to constantly paging, scrolling resizing to view everything. I've been hoping that someone would clone my monitor with a mobile power supply so I could take a secondary monitor with me. So far nothing has crossed my radar that's cost effective. Digital Tigers being the closest runs $1200 and still uses conventional monitors. But I am a fan of mobility even more, so I've gladly given up secondary monitors in order to hang out at airports and cafes.

I invested in a TabletPC since it's a different tool than my primary laptop, and as much as I can off-load stuff to run on the tablet at times it's would be nice to use it's monitor, when out an and about. With this software I can.

I tried synergy, which is a software KVM, so that solved half the battle. One keyboard and mouse to rule multiple PC's. This has a mode for that too.

They also have a system tray clip manager, works with the clipboard, useful if you code, and macros aren't practical. It's like a tree of frequently used code, releasing inserts it into your document.
